Who Can Apply
You must:

• Be a professional chef, age 21 or older
• Be actively employed in a restaurant, hotel, or catering operation
• Work at an open and operating establishment
• Have a valid passport

How It Works

Step 1: Apply
Complete the pre-registration form by June 15, 2026

Step 2: Submit Your Concept
If selected, submit:

• Original tapa recipe
• Ingredient list for 9 servings
• Plated photo
• 90-second video

Step 3: Get Selected
A panel of culinary experts selects 8 finalists

Step 4: Compete Live

• Three rounds of competition
• Celebrity judges
• Live audience at the Texas Restaurant Show

Step 5: Win Big
The champion is crowned at the Texas Restaurant Awards
Competition Requirements

• Max ingredient cost: $1.90 per tapa
• One original, unpublished recipe
• High-quality presentation required
• Video must demonstrate creativity and personality

Important Details

• Travel provided for the winner to Mexico
• Lodging will be shared
• Passport must have at least 8 months validity
