Gov. Abbott Declares State of Emergency in the Panhandle & Plains

AUSTIN (June 9, 2023) – Earlier this week, Governor Abbott issued a disaster declaration to respond to severe storms and flooding in Bailey, Briscoe, Castro, Deaf Smith, Garza, Hale, Lamb, Lynn, Parmer, Potter, Randall and Roberts counties.

If you’ve been affected by these storms, keep an eye out for resources from our North Texas Regional Office team via email and also on the Panhandle Chapter of the TRA's website. Please also report damage to homes and businesses through the state's iSTAT portal, which helps the state qualify for federal disaster assistance.

What's Next? Many restaurants and businesses in the affected area have been unable to operate since last weekend, in addition to significant damage done to area homes. We are working with the Panhandle Chapter to help identify those restaurants most in need of immediate support.

If you would like to help, the TX Restaurant Relief Fund is accepting donations for independent restaurant operators affected by the floods.
